Creativity is intelligence having fun.
Hello! I’m Eva Empleo and I am a digital storyteller.
I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I loved crafting stories - so much so that I got my own books into my school library and published a poem that I wrote when I was just three years old. That love for storytelling expanded into visual art, where I spent years drawing, painting, and experimenting with different mediums. Eventually, I wound up with a camera in hand and discovered my love for film.
Despite these passions, I pursued a business management degree at one of the top business schools in California. However, it didn’t take long for me to realize that something was missing. While I was gaining valuable knowledge about strategy and operations, I felt a pull toward the creative world I had always been a part of. That realization led me to pivot, transferring to Columbia College Chicago to study Filmmaking and Social Media & Digital Strategies. There, I gained hands-on experience on student-led film sets and worked directly with startups.
While studying, I started my career at Hubbard Chicago. I initially joined Hubbard Chicago as a Promotions Intern in 2019, where I represented three radio stations at marketing events and promotional activities. In 2020, my role evolved into a digital and social content-focused position, where I assisted the Social Media Manager in producing and scheduling content for the three radio station brands. I also took an interest in the client-focused multimedia creation and was able to shadow and assist the manager of that department as well. Eventually, I grew into a newer role that encompassed both social media content creation and commercial video production for 50+ clients.
Just weeks before graduation, I was immediately thrown into meetings with marketing directors and CEOs of prominent local businesses. I found myself trusted for my insights and creative input at my current position. Embracing this challenge, I dove into impactful campaigns, shaping and creating commercial content that continues to drive my passion.
A few career highlights : Created 3 commercials on WGN, worked with ABC7 Chicago, created a commercial for Giordano’s that is featured on their website and played during a Bull’s Game, shot at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry, worked with Chick-Fil-A, and more
Outside of my career, I continue to create through as many mediums as possible. Creativity has always been at the core of who I am and I find joy in exploring different forms of expression. I am so fortunate to be able to pursue my hobbies as a career. I get to practice my storytelling skills daily which allows me to continuously explore and expand my skills, making each day an exciting adventure in my professional journey.
